Meet the Bluffs video 2011 w/ Jeff Crouch, Blaine Reininger

The Northern California coastline is falling into the sea. But despite the global warming storms and big waves, the bulldozers, armies of workers, helicopters dropping giant rocks into the sea to protect the cliff, equipment parked in the streets, warning signs everywhere, and midnight evacuations, the apartments on the cliffs continue to rent.

She does look like that art director that fired you. He appears to be the coke dealer at last years xmas party. But they are the targeted renter market. They are the inhabitants of apartments falling into the sea. They want the good life. Entertaining their friends drinking local cabs on the terrace watching the great fireball hit the horizon. Jogs on the beach. But wait! There is no more beach!

Blaine Reininger track. Jeff Crouch track.

day turns black

big winds blow

bad tides running

in an evil night

when the earth

falls in the sea.

darkness sets me free

in dreams gone mad

when the earth covers me

free of hatred, free of fear

free of love, free of you my dear

when the earth covers me

when the earth falls in the sea.

This video is a post and email collaboraration. Rafael sent me cards and video clips, and we emailed each other about a direction we wanted to take. Filmed in Pacifica, California, south of San Francisco.

This track by Blaine Reininger of TuxedoMoon is American Buffalo Theme. Since wild buffalo have disappeared from our continent, It is appropriate music for the last act of American privacy.
